I’m sure we all have that awkward corner in the house that you never know what to do with, what to put there, or how to style it so it doesn’t look like such an eye sore. With the holidays right around the corner and family members making their travel arrangements to head your way, I’m sure that dreadful corner is exactly what you don’t want haunting you in your sleep. No need to worry anymore because there are a variety of ideas on how to style awkward corners just in time for the holiday season!
This might just be the quick and easy way to disguise that corner and spruce up your space if you are in a crunch! Call the handyman hubby and get him to hanging those shelves so you can get to styling them with books, art, plants, and more.
2. Gallery Wall
The next best way would be to create a corner gallery wall. This might seem a little tricky at first glance but I can assure you, the one thing you need to remember is to lay it out on the floor before you start hanging! start at the top of the walls and work your way down. Add in a small bookshelf or chair and you are good to go! (This would also be great to get those family photos and picture frames up off of the furniture to clean up a cluttered space!)
3. Work Space
This one might not be specifically for the holiday entertainer in a panic, BUT it is so perfectly organized that I just had to keep this one included. Corner shelving and a floating desk/ work space wrap that awkward corner in an office or playroom to make the most of your space! I can picture myself sitting at it already!
4. Command Center
One kid needs to be at karate practice, another at dance, the hubby has a business trip and you can never remember to grab toilet paper when you run to the store! Pile the holiday shopping list on top and you’re going to want to pull your hair out! Turn that awkward corner into a command center to keep your life a little more balanced this year. I can see some new years resolutions being resolved with this idea!!
5. Dining Banquette
Have an eat in kitchen space that just never seemed to work out well? This one might be a little more tricky to complete and might require some handyman services, but it sure will change the entire look and add some functionality to a room! Great place for the kids to do their homework at too!
6. Mud Room Cabinets
The awkward corner can be anywhere. While it’s probably a little more noticable when it’s staring at you in the kitchen or living room, an empty mud room can be an eye sore as well. This is the most functional and would definitely be the most well used space. A few cabinets to wrap around the corner and used for hanging everything from lacrosse sticks to backpacks will get everything off the floor for sure!
