this little bird baby shower is so adorable! you will love all the rustic and vintage elements, the bird’s nest cupcakes, and speckled egg favors with free printable favor tags. this post is sponsored by Jelly Belly, but all opinions are my own!
last spring, my amazing little sister had a ‘feather her nest’ bird baby shower back east in maryland to celebrate her soon-to-be little boy – my first nephew! unfortunately, due to quite a few circumstances, i was unable to attend. i was so disapointed that i couldn’t be there! even though i could not attend i wanted to be a part of her special day, so i created invitations & favor tags and sent decor for the party so there would be a piece of me there with her. i re-created some of the elements from her little bird baby shower to share with you guys today along with some free printables!
i love this theme – it is perfect for a gender neutral baby shower or could easily be adapted to make it more of a boy baby shower or more of a girl baby shower. since my sister was having a boy, we played up the browns and blues, but here i am showing you a few pops of pink and a touch of green and yellow. while this is the perfect spring baby shower theme, it would really work all year long! i could even see this with frosted branches, coconut ‘snow’ covered desserts, and white birds for the winter… it would be so beautiful! it is such a versatile theme and has really fun verbiage like ‘helping her nest’ or ‘feathering her nest’ that will make all your guests smile.
the main dessert at this party was the adorable chocolate coconut cupcakes made into a nest with Jelly Belly eggs and sugar cookie birds on top! it’s no secret that i am a huge fan of Jelly Belly – i have them at every party! when i set out to create these cupcakes i knew EXACTLY which ones i wanted – the berry blue from the jewel collection. with its beautiful blue hue and shimmery finish, it was the perfect egg shape, color, and size for the top of our nest cupcakes! i also added some of the jelly bean chocolate dips (very cherry) to the nests since they have such a great brown color which matched the chocolate cupcakes and rustic wooden decor. the cupcakes were chocolate (made using my favorite chocolate cupcake recipe from Glorious Treats) and the frosting was chocolate buttercream from my book. i piped the chocolate frosting in a big round then rolled the top in toasted coconut. using the back of a spoon, i created a dip in the middle for the Jelly Belly ‘eggs’ and sugar cookie bird. they turned out so so cute!
the decor was relatively easy to find since spring and easter are just around the corner, but rustic wood elements, vintage blue painted frames, shredded paper or nesting material, and bird cages are all elements that could be found year round to tie this theme together. the ceramic birds were a seasonal find, but most craft stores will have a section with small birds and nests to craft with. the printable ‘feather her nest’ 8×10 is free for you to download at the end of the post to get you started on your decor for this theme.
for favors, we simply pulled some of the shredded paper crinkle and formed it into a nest in our favor boxes. Jelly Belly has speckled chocolate malted eggs so we used those as the eggs in the nest for the favor boxes. i printed the favor tags (free for you to download at the end of the post) and used double sided tape to secure the tag and ribbon around the box.
my new little nephew is seriously the cutest EVER! he is 8 months old now – crawling all over, waving hi to everyone, laughing those adorable belly laughs, and keeping a smile on my whole family’s face! we just can’t get enough of him! here are all the sources you will need to create this adorable birdie baby shower for your guests:
